Description
Shell large, heavy, with flat base, upper surface strongly convex, with deep, steep-walled umbilicus, whorls with subangular crest, locus of a slight sinus, ornament growth lines and in some species spiral cords, operculum calcareous, paucispiral from nucleus, which lies near base toward parietal lip, nuclear part in some species protruding like a horn, inner surface with large projecting roughened apophysis for attachment of left retractor muscle and smaller roughened area above for right retractor muscle
